Hand in hand with Civil Engineering, Survey Engineering emerged as a special discipline about 5000 years ago. The accurate three dimensional location of point over the land surface, under the land surface or under the water surface in our globe or anywhere in the universe, is very important for all concerned. With the development of modern technologies Total Survey has also taken the disciplines of Electronics and Computer Science in its fold. For 3 years diploma course, in addition to the essential Engineering and Science Subjects, special emphasis will be given to Cartography, Computer aided design and drafting, Geodesy and Astronomy, Tachometry & Cadastral Survey, Theodolite Survey, Curve and Triangulation, Topography and Hydrograph, Modern Survey, Tunnel and Mine Surveying, Photogrammetric and Remote Sensing etc.
In NS Polytechnic College, our Survey Engineering department has full time, qualified faculties to enrich the student’s knowledge. It is fully equipped with latest instruments and machines to provide hands-on experience to the students. Good placement opportunities are available for diploma holders in the field of Survey Engineering, both in Government and Private Sectors. They can be absorbed as survey engineers involved in different form of work such as supervision, draftsman (with computer knowledge), surveyors, and personnel in-charge of quality control, estimation work and office procedures. There is huge demand for survey engineers in India and it is also expected to get a boost as the country gets ready to upgrade its infrastructure with growing economy with time. After completion of this course, students can seek employment in consultancy firms, road projects, building work, etc. The career opens a lot of opportunities in numerous government departments as well as private sectors.

Land Surveyors are in great demand in various sectors including oil &gas, mining, infrastructure, construction, civil engineering etc. Land surveyor education is mostly associated with civil engineering discipline. Most of the surveyors have informal education, through work experience, restricting their growth option. This course meets the long felt need for skilled manpower in this field. There is also a huge demand of land surveyors in foreign countries. The study material will be sent to students once each semester. The assignments related to study material will be sent twice each semester, to be completed and sent back by the candidate within stipulated time period. Field training is mandatory to complete this course. Institute has all the required equipment & facilities to impart field training in association with surveying industry. Foreign students have a choice to undergo this training in their own country as well.
For a surveyor, there are lot of opportunities because of the enhanced economic and construction activity. With advancement in technology, surveying and mapping of terrains has now grown into geomatics. Instead of manual methods, these days one uses electronic equipment, global positioning systems, satellite receivers and computer software for mapping natural or man-made structures. This has resulted in growth opportunities in the field and as a geomatic technologist, one has a high demand. For employment you can get into companies that are into surveying and mapping, engineering consultancies, mining companies, public utility works, municipalities, telecommunication, infrastructure, highway and railway works, , both in the public and private sector. You can even materialize your diploma into an engineering degree.
